Zac grew up in Northwest Montana. He was an independent lad and found his calling in the outdoors. A bicycle was his first form of transportation, which allowed him to explore the area with friends and family. His passion for biking would be lifelong. He would tell you he has spent his life savings on a couple of occasions buying the best bicycle he could afford. Zac’s family moved to SW Montana in 96, where he continued to develop his outdoor skills.
After attending Montana State University for Elementary Education, he redirected his focus to the outdoors by working as a Wildland Firefighter for the US Forest Service for 12 years. During that time, he became a FAL1/C-Sawyer and worked across the US, felling the most critical fire-damaged trees. He also developed his skills in the mountains, including backcountry skiing, freeride mountain biking, snowmobiling, rock climbing, rafting, fishing, and camping.
In 2007, Zac moved to the Pacific Northwest to explore a new area and continued to enjoy the outdoor activities he had grown to love in Montana. He expanded his outdoor pursuits, becoming an avid gardener and handyman. He owned several street-legal motorcycles and enjoyed ripping around on his Ducati Multistrada. He gave surfing a try under pressure from friends. Although he had an extensive swimming background, his fear of the great ocean predator kept him from pursuing it. He stayed involved with the ocean through photography and drone videography.
Zac and his spouse moved to Butte in 2019 to escape big-city life in Portland, OR. He regrets giving up his Ducati, but he transferred his passion to snowmobiling. From 2019 to 2022, Zac personally designed and built his new family home, handling every aspect of the build himself, and moved in once construction was complete, subcontracting only the shingles and gutters.
Before joining The Peak Inc. in January 2026, Zac had a strong background in construction, facilities management, and project management at the largest indoor climbing company in North America. Zac is thrilled to be at The Peak, looking forward to growing the business, and enjoying some outdoor time when the teams come into train.
